Vampire Hunter D by Lusaen Vampire Hunter D by Lusaen
The sword of Vampire Hunter D, I don't claim it's perfectly accurate, since it's based off an anime the weapon can change from scene to scene drastically so I estimated it the best I could. It's not meant to be particularly realistic, and it's simple, intended of Half-Life 1 mods.

Ugh, his sword is so pretty. Even though it changes each appearance like D's outfit. Mhh, it's still a damn pretty weapon, well done good sir. I appreciate your work.

The grip and guard is entirely cylinders I used extrude on and adjusted the scale and shape of the vertices. The skull piece in the middle is a single section of cylinder with slight cones on the top and bottom, the blade is pretty much a box with extrusions, make a split down one side and pull it out for the edge.

Hide all the simple geometry with a decent texture and no one knows better.

Alright, thanks I was planning on making it simple. About how thick were the parts, and should I put a turbosmooth on anything?

Pretty thin judging by references.
I don't know about turbo smoothing, I assign smoothing groups based on surfaces and geometry

Alright, thin it is. But I forget how to do smoothing groups, is that like NURMS?

I'm not really sure what that is. Work with what you know I'm not really too familiar with modelling programs.

...wait, how are you not familiar with modeling programs? 3ds max is a modeling program...

I only know basic stuff. I'm really more focused on the texture aspect.

It looks really good. The only 3D program I have is Bryce 6. I want to learn 3D Max though or View.
